Fire Station

The other night the fire station we live by was having an open house for fire safety week. My boys are so in love with firetrucks, so it was a perfect opportunity for them.
All the kids got a ride on the firetruck, except for Brock who chickened out. Which blows me away cause all day long all he could talk about is him getting to ride on a firetruck after he took his nap. Once it came time for our turn, he didn't want to go.

Zack had no fear and was excited for his turn on the firetruck.
Zack, Jacee, Kayden, Nick, and Tarra all took a ride on the firetruck. Tracie, and I along with Brock stood on the sidelines watched and took pictures.
Brock thought this was great, being able to spray the fire hose. Notice Jacee in the back just waiting patiently. (side note- notice the cute top she is wearing, umm I bought that for her)
Tarra holding her baby Braxton, Jacee, Brock, and John.
Brock and Zack hanging out by the Ambulance.
It was so much fun, minus it got so cold, and Zack got sick from being out in the cold, but over all it was great fun, and even a better time going with our great neighbors.

What the RASH.

Here are the pictures of Zack when he had he allergic reaction to the medication he was taking for his ear infection. This is when he was over the worst part of it, you should have seen how bad it was when he first became allergic. If you look close you can see that it's all over everywhere, even in his ear, and hair. POOR LITTLE MAN!

He would pinch his skin, I think that was his way of trying to scratch the rash. We now know to NEVER let him take that medication again.

Here goes.

1. What is his name? Travis John (TJ)

2. Who eats more? Definitely Travis on most things, but if it's something really nummy I can definitely out eat him.

3. Who said I love you first? He did. He took me in his truck up by the castle in Layton..totally cheesy and told me he was falling for me.

4. Who is taller? TJ. He's 6'0" and I'm 5'7"

6. Who is more sensitive? Me. Most definitely. TJ does have his moments, but what guy is sensitive?

7.Who does the laundry? Definitely me. I wont let him wash unless I am there to watch. When first married, I was working as a personal nurse assistant and traveled 10 days out of the month. I get home from being gone for 6 days when TJ tells me he was so excited he did ALL the laundry. My heart dropped, I asked if he meant ALL laundry, even in the white basket, well make a long story short, he ended up shrinking ALL my new stuff I had just bought. Really shrunk it.

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? TJ does, I sleep close to door, so I can get up with the boys if need be.

9. Who pays the bills? TJ does, I've never been good at that.

10. Who cooks more? ME. Up until Brock was 3 TJ had no clue how to even make mac and cheese.

11. What meals do you cook together? Sunday dinner mostly.

16. What do you like to do together? We always make each other laugh. Anything we try make fun. Boating, taking boys pool, we love running with boys in jogging stroller, anything.

17. Who eats more sweets? TJ, I really don't like candy much, BUT if it's baked goods then I LOVE IT, and have a hard time saying NO.

22. Who proposed? I didn't really get a proposal. TJ and I were going get married on April 30, 2003, but I decided it was best to wait until the missionary to come home so I backed out, so 5 months after he did, TJ and I got married. TJ just one day said "here is your ring I bought for you" and that was that. Kinda lame I know. ......I told TJ that when we go threw the Temple that I should get a new ring and real proposal..lol.

Tubes...and...Teeth

My computer is being stupid again so I am using my dads computer AGAIN. That's why I haven't been able to comment on any one's blog.

Zack got his tubes done Monday and he did great. Night before was another thing. Zack couldn't have anything to eat past midnight, so I stayed up to make sure he ate before midnight, like at 11:30 I was up shoving food down his throat so that he wouldn't be hungry later. Oh if it was only that easy, WRONG, poor thing got so hungry in the middle of the night, so we stayed up and played and did whatever we could to take his mind off of wanting to eat, and thank goodness he still likes binky, that helped keep him from getting to hungry.
Zack and I had to be checked in at Ogden Regional at 6:00 a.m. which was great cause I thought he would get in at 6:00 a.m, little did I know that he wasn't even scheduled until 7:30 a.m, even being the first person that day, they don't even start until 7:30 a.m. Even Zack at that point was starving, he did really well until the last 10 minutes. It was sad when the doctor took him off to get tubes in, but he still did really well. When Zack finally came out of it more, he was funny, the first thing he wanted was his fishies, and kept asking mommy for his fishies.
I sure wish that we had got tubes in sooner, Zack did GREAT and is such a happier boy. Best thing is that Zack is sleeping threw the night, and just over all can see a difference in the way he acts. The doctor said Zack should be just great and will feel 100 times better now having tubes in. Doctor did have to cut a little bigger in one ear so that he could drain his ear, he ended up having more fluid in there then the doctor was expecting.
Zack is so funny, now that I have put ear plugs in for his bath, he just yells as loud as he can, and just laughs at himself. I guess he he thinks it's funny to scream and hear himself scream with ear plugs in. (maybe I should get it on video-and post it)

Brock got his teeth done on Wednesday. He did really good. I was a semi bad mother, WHY?, well because when Brock got his anesthetic shot in his arm and started to go out of it, he was so funny and kept saying the funniest things to me, I COULDN'T STOP laughing. Brock ended up having to have all front teeth removed, all due to that one abscess tooth. The funniest thing was when Brock started to come out of it, the first thing he said was "hey mom, we done? let's go Caffe Rio", I laughed so hard. Brock looks so cute without his teeth. Brock was really out of it for most the day, and the pain was manageable until about 8:30 that night when all pain med wore off, it ended up being a long couple hours after that. Today Brock is doing great, and is able to eat pretty much anything, minus the use of his front teeth.

When it rains it pours

As the saying goes when it rains it pours, and let me tell you that I just laugh, because this is so true when it comes to our family. It all started about two weeks ago when out of the blue Zack just started throwing up and didn't stop for two days. Then of course brother followed the next night.

AND THEN!

Zack last week got another ear infection, so he is getting tubes in on Monday. I am excited to get this done, so hopefully we don't have to deal with anymore ear infections. Since January Zack has had 6 ear infections and 4 or 5 at least starting of an ear infection. The other day when we went the specialist said he didn't think Zack's ears has ever healed since getting the first ear infection, maybe even as far back as from when he was a baby. When he checked his ear he was surprised to see that even after Zack being on antibiocits for 4 days that he still had fluid and swelling behind the ear.

Then Brock- on the way to Macy's Thursday Brock was complaining that his finger hurt, but I thought he was just playing around, but by the time we got there he was crying real tears that it really hurt. I look to see this THING on his finger. It was so gross, I could move the fluid around in his finger. 30 minutes later we're at his doctor draining his finger. Less then 24 hours later doctors office called to say his finger was positive for some kind of infection. GROSS, NASTY, UGH!-for a germ freak like myself I was mortified that this happened, AND WHERE DID HE GET THIS. I spent the next few hours cleaning everything with Clorox.
Then came Sunday morning, when I was helping him brush his teeth I noticed that there was a THING in his mouth, and what do I find but a massive THING above his right canine tooth. So I call the on call dentist and was told since he was on the meds already for his finger that he should be okay until morning.

IF IT WAS ONLY THAT EASY!..lol..

Since we no longer carried insurance with the pediatric-dentist he had before that we LOVED, we had to find someone else, and since I didn't want to pay this high co-pay to see the old dentist, I decided to find someone else to take a quick look at his tooth...BIG MISTAKE... it ended up being the worst time ever. This dude told me that I couldn't hold his hand, that he was in charge because he was the dentist and I was just the mom... #%$#*&*@!@# is what I thought. Then when he decided to do surgery on his mouth he told me that they don't put them under -WHAT- this whole time Brock is so freaked out by him that he is crying and screaming to get away from this dude- while the dentist just made it worse. Then the real kicker is he told me they sometime have to HOLD DOWN the younger patients...WHAT.... $#!%#%$## again is what I thought. I sat there thinking what an insensitive!#$% ##$##@#*, I couldn't believe it. So after leaving Brock asked if we had to go back there again, I asked why, he said " that man was mean, I don't think I want to go back". I was sick. How could I take him back there, so after a few hours and a recommendation to try someone that is a pediatric-dentist.
Today we went to the most wonderful dentist EVER EVER EVER. He and all his staff made Brock so comfortable, gave Brock time to get use to the whole thing. Wednesday Brock will be put out and have some work done to remove the THING in his mouth, remove maybe another tooth, get some x-rays and clean his teeth, dentist said if he's already out will wait then and clean his teeth since he has already had such a bad experience with a dentist.

AND THEN!

Today TJ dropped Zack off at the neighbors to play while I took Brock to the dentist. I was gone maybe 2 hours. I get home and start changed Zack, to find him COVERED from head to toe in something. After freaking out and yet again called the doctor, we find out that he has had an allergic reaction well they think to the antibiotic he was on for his ear infection. If the rash doesn't heal by tomorrow then he has had a different reaction to it called Eryetheame Multiform ( I totally spelled that wrong, but I don't have paper right here) any who, well I guess you become allergic to whatever infection you had in your system, like an ear infection. This reaction will cause welt like rash ALL OVER, and i mean ALL OVER. It's in his hair, ears, mouth, on his eyes, outside, behind ears, all over neck, face, back, chest, arms, pits, knees, backside of knees, and everywhere else you can imagine. Since he is having tubes on Monday they aren't to worried about the infection because once he gets tubes in his ears it should heal, and all infection welts SHOULD be gone. I will post pictures soon. It's pretty sad, but then again it's funny because we wouldn't be the Olsen's if something like this didn't happen.
So it's true, when it rains it does more then just pour...lol.

FINALLY

FINALLY..... got a new computer. Now I wont feel so out of the loop. I didn't realize how much I used the computer before until ours stopped working.
I told TJ if he was going to be gone working so much, that I needed something to keep me intouch with the outside world. What a good husband to get me a new computer, and it wasn't even an early Christmas present, he did just because he loves me, and I think to shut me up about having no computer.
THANK YOU BIG DADDY....(TJ nickname)
